School Radio Solutions Adds An Air Of Class To University of East London

Installation at the University of East London.
The University of East London, UK, offers a range of media and multimedia production activities within its Multimedia Production Centre (MPC). The facility combines teaching, research and production activities in a state-of-the-art environment and gives access to leading edge technologies and the support of highly skilled technical staff.
The MPC also hosts a student radio studio, previously used by the Student Union Radio Society to broadcast over the internet, which is now primarily a teaching facility to record offline student interviews. The university anticipates broadcasting live during the Olympic period in 2012.
Funds became available in early 2010 enabling the studio to have its first major refurbishment in 20 years. Trevor Hails, Radio Technician and his co-worker Neil Martin, Technical Associate for Music, were responsible for organising the studio upgrade. After some meticulous research into which equipment they should use, they recommended to the university buyers to purchase a School Radio Solutions studio package comprising an S2 radio broadcast mixer with S2 Solutions furniture together with some ancilliary equipment such as a Sonifex talkback intercom, a DHY-03 telephone hybrid and two new SignalLED studio signs.
Neil Martin commented: “Trevor and I were extremely impressed with our initial contact with School Radio Solutions and especially with the visit from Richard Butlin, (the Account Manager). We feel that a good rapport was achieved, which in my opinion, was an extremely important element of the entire project. More importantly, the fact that School Radio Solutions built, installed and supported their equipment and furniture was a deciding factor as well as the quote being the cheapest out of the three we asked for from other suppliers. It was also apparent that the Sonifex equipment was of an extremely high quality and very well built. The way in which the equipment installs into the furniture is extremely elegant and certainly adds an air of 'class' to the facility - people are genuinely impressed when they see it for the first time. In terms of security, we loved the fact that any function of the S2 can be disabled or locked to a particular setting, which avoids the chances of users inadvertently causing themselves unnecessary problems by 'pushing the wrong button' “.
School Radio Solutions is a division of Sonifex Ltd, a company which has been manufacturing radio broadcasting equipment for more than 40 years and is firmly established as one of the leading radio broadcast suppliers in the UK. The simple to use, reliable radio studio packages are ideal for use in primary schools, secondary schools, college and university environments. Each package can be tailored to individual requirements so contact School Radio Solutions for a quote with your needs.
